Is Yoga Right For You?

I tried Yoga for the very first time in March of last year. I was skeptical to say the least. My workouts had always consisted of weight training and power walking or jogging. To think that striking various poses and holding them (which was my understanding of Yoga) would do anything at all for my physical well being seemed kinda silly to me. Where’s the ‘no pain – no gain’ if you’re hardly moving, right?
I was wrong! Wrong about what Yoga is, what it can do for the body and mind and wrong about the level of difficulty found in a good routine.
What surprised me the most about my Yoga workout was how sore I was the following day. Not at all what I’d expected. On top of that, the routine itself was anything but easy. Even the floor work took muscle control I simply didn’t have.
My routine is done at home using a dvd. I’m a fan of P90X which has a terrific Yoga set among other workout routines. Yoga Classes are right for some. How about you? Do you practice Yoga? What do you like about it?
